First impressions are everything…and I was highly impressed! Wasn’t sure what to expect, but being my culminating academic travel, expectations were high. Needless to say, all expectations were blown out of the water as soon as we arrived at Ashanti and I saw the blanket (“tablecloth”) of clouds billowing over the edge of Cape Town’s Table Mountain. The weather was welcoming, the people were warm, and at that moment I already knew what it meant to be “bit by the Africa bug”, as they say.
